WELCOME TO THE CELS DIRECTORATE

Your guide to onboarding, setup, and success at Argonne.

Tutorials

Both the onboarding process and your appointment here at Argonne may require using new websites. Please look at the following information to clarify the purpose of each website. Below each site will also have additional information and resources.

Workday

Workday is Argonne’s primary system for managing job-related tasks and information. You will use Workday to:

  • Find and complete assigned tasks (such as onboarding steps and required actions)
  • Locate training modules and learning assignments
  • Search the employee directory to find people across Argonne
  • Complete required employee and onboarding forms

To locate assistance in Workday, navigate to the speech bubble in the top right corner of the screen. There is also has a box folder with visual guides and additional help resources.

Note

Argonne uses multiple Workday sites. Workday (Candidate) is typically used when applying for a position and may host application requirements. After you accept your offer, you’ll likely use Workday (Onboarding) for onboarding and job-related materials. You can usually tell them apart by the login page. If the URL is shown as https://login.anl.gov/, you are most likely in Workday (Onboarding).

Below is a tutorial video for a step-by-step runthrough of Workday Learning.

MyArgonne

MyArgonne is a homepage for Argonne employees. Here, you can access various information about working at Argonne, events, news, documents, applications, services, etc and more. The bottom of each page will also havve a directory to clarify acronyms and divisions within Argonne.

This site also has access to the Dash portal. Dash is operated within the Argonne VPN. Because of this, applications such as Dayforce and TMS typically require access through the Argonne VPN if you are not connected to Argonne Wi-fi. To locate Dash, navigate to My Apps --> View All Apps.

Note

A common alternative for accessing VPN-restricted apps without using Dash is via Argonne Wifi or an Argonne-issued laptop. However, please note that Wifi access does not consistently guarantee a VPN connection.

Below is a walkthrough of the MyArgonne site, with important pages and features for students highlighted.

Dayforce

Dayforce is a digital time sheet. Some employees are not required to use Dayforce. Each week employees have to log working hours. A walk-through & questionairre will be hosted within your first week.

Visit our walkthrough for assistance. You can also view the tutorial video below for a step-by-step runthrough.

Here are some more resources to help you get familiar with Dayforce:

Training Management System (TMS)

TMS is used to access training modules. TMS should have a comprehensive list of which modules need to be completed. If the modules are not found within TMS, please check Workday as some are hosted there.

Note that the training named SEC 160 is a scheduled event. This seminar will not always take place within your appointment dates. Please make sure to sign up for a date regardless, simply signing up will complete the requirement.

For more information about training modules, visit the Trainings page. For a step-by-step explanation of TMS, view the tutorial below.

Box

Box gives you a simple way to manage your files, access information, and collaborate with anyone. You should gain access to Box after your orientation when you get your Argonne credentials and email.

Visit the Tools page for more details and step-by-step instructions for Box.
